Here are the questions we are most often asked about Bank of
Texas' ATM and Check Card. Click any question below to go directly to the detailed answer
or browse through the FAQ's that follow.
What is a Bank of Texas Check Card?
The Bank of Texas Check Card is an enhanced ATM card. It's still an ATM card with the
added buying power of the Visa® symbol. So you can use it to get cash, and you
can also use it to pay for everyday purchases right from your checking account - at over
16 million worldwide locations, including many places that don't take checks. Either way
you use it, the amount is deducted from your primary checking account.
Where can I use the card?
You can get cash, make deposits, transfer money between accounts, and check your
account balance 24 hours a day at Bank of Texas TransFund locations. Click here to find the ATM closest
to you!
How does the card work?
Here's how to make a purchase:
- Simply present your card.
- Sign the sales receipt.
- Take your receipt and you're done!
The funds used to make the purchase are taken directly out of your primary checking
account, usually within 1-3 days, so there are no bills to pay later.
What is the cash withdrawal limit on the ATM & Check Card?
It varies by customer. Call our 24-Hour ExpressBank if
you do not know your limit.
What is the maximum daily purchase limit on my ATM/Check Card?
It varies by customer. Limits are subject to available balance (including overdraft
protection funds). Call our 24-Hour ExpressBank if you do
not know your limit.
When are the benefits to using this card?
The Check Card is faster, safer, and smarter than using cash or checks for purchases.
There's no need to carry extra cash or wait for check approval. Best of all, there's no
bill to pay later for these purchases, because the amount is taken directly out of your
checking account.
Does the Visa logo mean it's a credit card?
Absolutely not! The Check Card is not a credit card. With the Check Card, you access
funds from your checking account - not a credit account, so there is no monthly bill.
What happens if I don't have enough money in my checking account to
cover a purchase?
You must have sufficient funds in your primary checking account when you use your card
to make a purchase. If you do not have sufficient funds, the amount of the purchase will
not be authorized and the merchant will not process the sale. In the event that overdraft
protection is used to complete the purchase, an overdraft fee may apply..
How do I keep track of my spending with the ATM & Check Card?
Simply save your receipts and enter the amount of each purchase or transaction into
your check register or check your account information online.
You get a detailed record of each transaction on your monthly checking account statement
and online, so it's easy to know what you spent and where you spent it!
How do I get a ATM/Check Card?

lost or stolen. Just notify the bank promptly and you will not be liable for unauthorized
transactions. Refer to your Agreements & Disclosures for details.
Who do I contact if my Card is lost or stolen?
Contact our 24-Hour ExpressBank immediately if your card has
been lost or stolen, or if you suspect unauthorized use.
Do I need to use my PIN at Visa merchant locations?
No. You can use your Check Card just like you would use a credit card. Simply swipe the
card, or give it to the salesperson and then sign the receipt. If you're given the choice
to press "credit" or "debit", always press "credit" when
making a Check Card purchase.
